Transfer data between devices, independently of their operating system.
version
Dukto allows you to transfer data between two devices, regardless of the operating system they are running.
The application has a very straightforward interface that imitates that of a smartphone APK. In fact, its Windows version looks exactly as the one running on my Android phone. This is an absolute advantage because, if you already learned how to use it on your computer, there will be nothing new to learn when you use it on your portable device or vice versa.
The program connects to a Wi-Fi or LAN network and automatically detects other devices. Most of a transfer is done automatically, you just to select a buddy (target device) and the files or folders you want to send. Luckily, dragging the desired contents and dropping them onto the program’s window is also supported. Besides files, the program allows sending text. It is good that no additional steps are necessary on the target device as the files are copied to the default recipient folder. As extra options, you can specify an IP address instead of choosing a buddy.
All in all, Duckto is a very simple tool that shares data over a network at a fast speed and avoids lots of complex operations, such as sharing a folder, connecting to an IP address and setting user privileges. It also helps you avoid the use of slower Bluetooth connections. The bad news is that, unlike other similar tools, Dukto does not create its own hotspot, which means that you need an additional program for this purpose.
Pros
- Avoids the complex operations involved in sharing files between devices running different operating systems
- Does not require knowing the recipient IP address
- Transfer data very fast
Cons
- Does not create its own hotspot
:good: It simply works.
